Appointment of Dr. Marjorie Aunos to DSP

WMRC is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Marjorie Aunos as director for the Department of Professional Services (DSP).

Dr. Aunos began working for WMRC as a psychologist in 2002 and was promoted to coordinator, Ultra-Specialized Services, in 2008. She holds a Ph.D. in educational psychology from the Université du Québec à Montréal, with specialization in the fields of intellectual disability and parenting.

Dr. Aunos’ doctoral thesis and experience working with parents with an ID, in collaboration with WMRC User Services, led to the development of the Centre’s groundbreaking and widely recognized parenting program. Accreditation Canada acclaimed this program as a Leading Practice in 2010. As an adjunct professor at both UQÀM and Brock University, she has taught many courses on disability, life course and transition planning for persons with ID and ASD. A well-published author and much-requested presenter in the field, she has supervised many students and interns in a clinical and research capacity.

Dr. Aunos’ appointment was announced at the WMRC Board meeting on June 11 and will take effect in September 2013. Congratulations!
