At West Montreal Readaptation Centre (WMRC) and in general, the purpose of knowledge transfer is to transmit and apply research and experience-based knowledge, in order to improve management, intervention, educational, training and research practices.
Knowledge transfer has two responsibilities:
- Activities aiming to find, disseminate and integrate research knowledge in the development of evidence-informed practices;
- The use and validation of experienced-based knowledge to develop and enhance practices and research issues.
Strategies include conferences, discussion workshops, information watch, committee work and accessible articles.
The objective is for knowledge to be used, and also for research initiatives to create new knowledge. WMRC’s internal documentation centre (services offered to employees include purchases, loans, information retrieval, selective information dissemination, technological updates, training in the use of information retrieval tools) is also part of these activities.
